Research grant in banking and financial history

The International history department of the Graduate Institute, Geneva (GIISD) offers a four year PhD grant to fund a dissertation under the supervision of Professor Marc Flandreau. The grant is sponsored by a private bank and will finance a research project coming under the broad heading “banks and international financial relations in Geneva since the Congress of Vienna”. The grant will provide with the opportunity to work in a first class research environment, with a stimulating team of doctoral students. Excellent candidates are encouraged to apply for this generous grant which also provides a modest research travel subsidy. They are expected to have impeccable credentials in history and/or economic or financial history. Previous experience with working in relevant archive is preferable. Proficient French is required and so is a working knowledge of English, German and Italian a plus. Registration in the PhD program will take effect in September 2015, but it is possible to arrive earlier and begin research from Spring 2015.
