We are looking to recruit a candidate at the level of Assistant Professor with a focus on the history of the British Isles in an international context in the period c. 1800-1914, including imperial history.
You will carry out teaching and research, significantly contributing to the Department’s Masters and undergraduate degree programmes and to the Department’s activities more broadly.
You must have expertise and research interests in the history of the British Isles in an international or trans-national context in the period c. 1800-1914, including imperial history, as well as an ability to establish an international reputation in these fields. You will have a completed PhD, or be close to obtaining a PhD, in History or a related discipline by the post start date (by 1 September 2015).
You will have a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications. You will also have a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications.
You should have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to in the history of the British Isles in an international or trans-national context in the period c. 1800-1914, including imperial history, at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.
