We are happy to announce one or more positions as senior lecturers at the Department of Economic History, Lund University, Sweden. The Department is research-intensive and employs about 60 people: researchers, teachers, technical/administrative staff, and Ph.D. candidates. The Department has a large PhD programme and co-ordinates four international Master programmes. The Department has a well established reputation for wide-ranging research with an emphasis on long-term processes, and with economic theory and quantitative methods as important methodological tools. Particularly strong research areas include economic growth and structural change, development economics, and economic demography, as well as agrarian history, financial history and education and the labour market.
Applicants must have a PhD, a corresponding international degree or equivalent professional skills relevant to the content and tasks of the position. Applicants are required to have demonstrated pedagogical skills. They must also have completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.
The position consists of both teaching and research. Administrative tasks can also be included. Teaching can be at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level.
The School of Economics and Management aims at a balance between research and teaching. Equal importance will therefore be given to scholarly and pedagogical skills when assessing the applicants. Administrative competence is also taken into account.
In the overall assessment of scholarly skills special weight will be given to publications in peer-reviewed journals and in publishing houses with an international peer-review system. Special weight will also be given to experience from international collaboration and participation in research networks, and to the applicant’s ability to receive external research funding. Moreover, the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society and to inform about research will be assessed.
Pedagogical qualifications include training in teaching and learning in higher education, pedagogical experience and pedagogical skills.
Consideration will be given to how the applicant´s skill and experience can strengthen and supplement the existing research and teaching activities within the Department.
